- Personal accident (Death & Disability) cover: at least S$60,000 annually

- Medical expense (Hospital & Surgical) cover: at least S$15,000 annually

- Security bond from Insurance Company: S$5,000

A Security bond is a binding pledge to pay the government if you or your maid breaks the law or conditions governing the Work Permit. The insurance company will issue a Letter of Guarantee for a S$5,000 security bond on your behalf to Ministry of Manpower, so that you don't have to put up a cash deposit. You may however still be liable for the S$5,000 if your maid fails to comply with Singapore laws.

Security bond Waiver of Indemnity: Limits the S$5,000 liability to just $200-$250 depending on insurance company.

Outpatient Medical benefits: Covers maid's outpatient expenses such as consultation, prescriptions and diagnostic tests.

Dental benefits: Covers basic dental care expenses.

Wages and levy reimbursement: Covers maid's salary and government levy in the event that she is hospitalized.

Repatriation expenses: Covers for the transportation expenses if you have to send your maid or her mortal remains back to her home country as a result of an accident or illness.

Termination expenses: Covers expenses incurred by to terminate your maid's services prematurely due to an accident or illness.

Liability to 3rd parties: Covers legal liabilities and compensations to damaged properties and injury to another person.

Part-Time Helper expenses: Covers the cost of hiring a part-time helper if your maid is not able to fulfill her usual duties due to an accident or illness.

Critical illness benefit: Pays a lump sum benefit when your maid is diagnosed with a major critical illness.

MOM requires all insurance to have an additional 2 months of cover so that in any event or reason the maid overstays in Singapore after her work permit has expired, she is still covered under the insurance.

For new maids, the policy start date should be the date when your maid is coming into Singapore or earlier.

For renewal maids, the policy start date should be 1 day after your maid’s current work permit expires.

For transfer maids, the policy start date should be on or before the date you apply for a transfer with MOM.

The maid insurance cover ceases from the time she leaves Singapore and resumes upon her return.
